Margaret M. Doud, Mayor
Mayor Doud was born and reared on Mackinac Island and attended the Thomas Ferry School until ninth grade. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Monroe and received a degree in education from Central Michigan University.
She taught third grade at Ottawa Elementary School in Petoskey for two years, then taught kindergarten on Mackinac Island for four years, resigning in 1974. That same year, she was appointed to the City Council to fulfill the term of Dennis Brodeur, who was retiring, and a year later, she ran successfully for mayor, replacing Clem Gunn. She has been the Mayor of Mackinac Island since her first win in April 1975.
Tammy L. Frazier, Mayor's Assistant
Tammy was born and reared on Mackinac Island and graduated from the public school. She married Anthony Frazier in 1986 and has a daughter Cassandra who has moved to Grand Rapids to attend college. Tammy was the City Clerk from 1994 to 2004 and became the Mayor’s Assistant in January 2013.
