Margaret M. Doud, Mayor
Mayor Doud was born and reared on Mackinac Island and attended the Thomas Ferry School until ninth grade. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Monroe and received a degree in education from Central Michigan University.

She taught third grade at Ottawa Elementary School in Petoskey for two years, then taught kindergarten on Mackinac Island for four years, resigning in 1974. That same year, she was appointed to the City Council to fulfill the term of Dennis Brodeur, who was retiring, and a year later, she ran successfully for mayor, replacing Clem Gunn. She has been the Mayor of Mackinac Island since her first win in April 1975.


Trista L. France, Mayor's Assistant
Trista was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, but was raised a majority of her life on Mackinac Island which she calls home. She is a direct descendant of Ordnance Sergeant William Marshall who served at Fort Mackinac from 1848-1884.

During her time in Grand Rapids she attended college and received an associates degree in medical assisting. She returned to Mackinac in 2013 to take care of his father during his illness. She worked for Mission Point Resort in the accounting department until she became the office manager for Doud's Market until 2020. 

In July of 2021, she married Ronnie T. France on the beautiful shore of Mackinac on a sunny day. They reside in their home in Harrisonville with their two fur babies Xander and Tiki.
