Bicycle Licenses (Summer)
Private Bicycle Licenses are now available for purchase both in-person and by mail. (Mail excludes E-Bike licenses) Download a "Bicycle Registration Form". Bicycle registration forms are also available at the Police Department and Post Office.

Regular Bike Licenses In-Person Sales at Mackinac Island Police Department: 7374 Market Street
Monday-Wednesday-Friday
10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
E-Bike Licenses Required to be In-Person Sales at Mackinac Island Police Department: 7374 Market Street
Tuesday and Thursday
10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
By Mail:
Mail in a "Regular" (Non-E-Bike) registration form with a self-addressed stamped envelope plus a check for $3.50 per bike. Once processed, the Department will mail out the license(s).

The reasons for the change are:
We're being overwhelmed with people bringing multiple e-bikes in along with multiple non-e-bike registration forms at the same time and expecting to have everything taken care of quickly.
Summer residents are coming in with registration forms for fleets of bikes, as many as 5-10 (or more) at a time, including e-bikes.
Incomplete forms: Residents are turning in forms without pertinent information such as serial numbers. If we have to spend 5 minutes trying to locate a serial number on an e-bike, the line gets longer and tempers get shorter. Please locate your e-bike's serial numbers before you bring your bike down to be inspected.
Please don't argue with our admin. or interns if they tell you that we can't register your bike. We will register no Class III e-bikes and Class II bikes must have the throttle permanently removed to be re-labeled as a Class I. If you wish further clarification, please ask to speak with an officer.
We've already inspected and registered over 100 more e-bikes than we did last year at this time. If you bring your e-bike down to be registered on "e-bike day" and you have additional "regular" bikes to register, you can drop off the completed forms with Stephanie for pickup at a later date.
Reminder: Only people with mobility disabilities may have an e-bike on Mackinac Island and only Class I e-bikes (no throttle, max speed 20mph) are allowed.)
We are currently impounding non-complaint e-bikes and ticketing owners and/or users.
Snowmobile Permits (Winter)
*Snowmobile permits may be order by completing the application through the link above. Please complete the form and mail in with a CHECK ONLY for the exact amount and include self addressed, stamped envelope to the address below and we will mail a sticker out:

If you haven't any access to printers for whatever reason, you can pick up the form in the vestibule of the police station from the envelope on the wall, or at the bank where we'll try to keep a supply available.
