Danielle Leach (nee Wightman) was raised on Mackinac Island and graduated from Mackinac Island Public School in 2009. After graduating, Danielle left for Michigan State University where she graduated in December 2013 with a Bachelors Degree in Writing, Editing, and Publishing.
Danielle's husband Kevin is a Coxwain with the Mackinac Marine Rescue, her Dad Dan Wightman served on the City Council, Fire Department, and Mackinac Marine Rescue, her mother Kathi currently serves as Chairperson for the Cemetery and Library Boards, her Grandfather Clarence Wightman held a City Council seat in the 1950's, and her Grandmother Esther was the Chairperson for the Cemetery Board for many years.
In 2016, Danielle chose to run for the position of City Clerk and has been annually elected for the position each year since.
Danielle resides on the Island year round with her husband Kevin, daughter Harper, and their Australian Shepherd, Boomer.
