Bicycle Licenses (Summer)
Private Bicycle Licenses are available for purchase between April and October both in-person and by mail. (Mail excludes E-Bike licenses) Download a Bicycle registration form online. Bicycle registration forms are also available in the Police Department lobby.

Licenses are $3.50 each

Regular Bike Licenses In-Person Sales at Mackinac Island Police Department: 7374 Market Street
Monday-Wednesday-Friday
10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
E-Bike Licenses, must be licensed IN-Person. In-Person Sales at Mackinac Island Police Department: 7374 Market Street
Tuesday and Thursday
10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
By Mail:
Pedal Bikes only can be registered by mail. Please mail your completed form with a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope plus a check for $3.50 per bike. Once processed, the Department will mail out the license(s).

Residents:
If you have more than 4 bikes to register at one time, please mail in your bicycle registration forms with a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope or drop off your completed forms to be picked up at a later date. Typically within 24-48 hours during weekdays.
Note:
Forms without pertinent information such as serial numbers will not be accepted.
If we have to spend 5 minutes trying to locate a serial number on an E-bike, the line gets longer and tempers get shorter. Please locate your E-bike's serial numbers before you bring your bike down to be inspected.
Please don't argue with our administrative assistant or Interns if they tell you that we can't register your bike. We will NOT register Class III E-bikes. Class II E-Bikes must have the throttle permanently removed to be re-labeled as a Class I. If you wish for further clarification, please ask to speak with an officer.
If you bring your E-bike down to be registered on "E-bike day" and you have additional "regular" bikes to register, you can drop off the completed forms with Stephanie for pickup at a later date.
Reminder: Only people with mobility disabilities may have an E-bike on Mackinac Island. Only Class I E-bikes are allowed (no throttle, max speed 20mph are allowed.)
We are currently impounding non-complaint E-bikes and ticketing owners and/or users.
Snowmobile Permits (Winter)
*Snowmobile permits may be order by completing the application through the link above. Please complete the form and mail in with a CHECK ONLY for the exact amount and include self addressed, stamped envelope to the address below and we will mail a sticker out:

If you haven't any access to printers for whatever reason, you can pick up the form in the vestibule of the police station from the envelope on the wall, or at the bank where we'll try to keep a supply available.
